A. Who is eligible to train articled assistants ?

An associate or a fellow member, who has been in practice continuously, whether in India, or elsewhere or an associate or a fellow who is employed as a paid assistant with a chartered accountant in practice or in a firm of such chartered accountants shall only be eligible to engage an articled assistant or assistants:

In the case of an associate or a fellow practising outside India, the Council may impose such additional terms and conditions as it may deem fit.

Effective from 17.8.2007 the entitlement of members in practice to train articled assistants is as follows :

Resume for CA articleship

After completing both group or 1st group of CA IPCC students can join for 3 years of articleship under any practicing chartered Accountants. When a student goes for searching articleship majority of all chartered accountants ask for a resume. So before preparing there are so many questions arise in anyone's mind regarding what to write in a resume, which details should be given and which should be ignored. See friends a well-organised resume create a positive impact in recruiter's mind so go through the entire article and prepare your resume for articleship in an effective manner which really works.

   1.   Obtaining data to be written 

I have seen so many times that students do not remember their marks obtained in their 10th or 12th standards or in some cases in CPT also. so it is the primary thing that you are having all your academic details ready. It is necessary that you are having a xerox copy of all your mark sheets like SSC, HSC specifically printouts our of your recent IPCC results.

   2.   Design of resume

A design of resume for an articleship should be as much as simple having a minimum number of pages which contain maximum information. Ideally, a fresher of an articleship has a maximum 2 page of the resume. As far as the font is concern use easy to read font like "Arial","Times New Roman","Tahoma". The size of a font in heading 14 or 16 with bold is good and for other text 10 to 12 is enough.

   3.   Using bullet points

After the declaration of IPCC result every time there is a rush of a student for articleship at chartered accountant's office. No chartered accountant have time to read long paragraphs of text. Make sure to use bullet points to describe your qualifications and achievements.

   4.   Language and Information

A resume having a simple and lucid expression with grammatical error free resume create a good impact. Use simple and short sentence instead of long sentences. Do not try to impress your chartered accountant by speaking a lie, because a single wrong thing will keep away you from articleship at a good place. As far as information is concern use the only relevant information only. Irrelevant information should be strictly avoided. Read, re-read resume to avoid any single grammatical mistakes.

   5.   Objective lines in resume :-)

An objective line in a resume for a CA articleship is not mattered more but still, it is tradition to write objective line so write it. No. chartered accountant have time to read an objective line of a coming for articleship, in fact, IPCC clear student has an only an objective to complete 3 years of articleship with a good number of leaves. :-) However objective line should be 15 to 17 words indicating your aim towards getting a particular field or particular area of interest.

   6.   Qualifications

Qualification for CA articleship is not very much matter. The majority of chartered accountants prefer articles who have completed both groups of IPCC, as a student who has completed 1st group of IPCC will demand a leave for 2nd group examination. In some of the cases of chartered accountants prefer articles who is not having regular colleges. In a case of writing qualifications in resume categorized classify qualification into category one for educational qualifications in reverse chronological order means recent one first followed by earlier one and so on and another category for other qualification in which you can mention any other certification course that you have undergone.

   7.   Experience

As a newbie to articleship chartered accountant will not expect experience but if you have any experience regarding accounting than do not forget to mention that. Because your chances of getting selected are more if you are having a beginner level of experience in Tally or some other accounting packages.

   8.   Personal details

Personal details say who you are? so clearly mentioned your personal details to enable chartered accountant to know who you are. Personal details contain a permanent address and temporary address if your temporary address is different than permanent address, date of birth, nationality, marital status, language was known, hobbies etc.

   9.   References

References are most important part of resume still, it appears on last of resume. Include references to any two well-known personalities with good designation better you give references of any chartered accountants. Care should be taken that many of chartered accountants cross check that such person of who references you are giving you is in touch with you or not.
